Hypotheses

H1: DePaul students are more likely to use social network sites than photo storage sites to store their photos. H0: DePaul students are NOT more likely to use social network sites than photo storage sites to store their photos.

Basis for H1: This hypothesis is grounded in the work of iProspect (2007), who found that most of their participants used social networking sites. They found that the younger generation used the internet for social networking more frequently and the convenience of interacting with their peers was enticing. They used these sites to share their photos with their friends and also update them on their most recent activities.

H2: DePaul students are more likely to use online sites than their computer hard-drives to store photos. H0: DePaul students are NOT more likely to use online social networking sites than their computer hard-drives to store photos

Basis for H2: This hypothesis is grounded in the work of Miller, Andrew D., and Edwards, W. Keith, (2007), who found that most participants in their survey were frequent users of websites to store and share photos. The websites are found to be a lot more convenient and less of a hassle because there is less of a need for organization. The site provides more convenient ways to store all photos and share them with friends. It is easier when compared to saving photos in a pictures folder on a hard-drive and having to go back and file large amounts of photos.
